FEWA Lab PI, David McLagan, wins Governor General’s Innovation Award

Published on: 2023-05-29

David McLagan, along with PhD Supervisors, Carl Mitchell and Frank Wania (from University of Toronto Scarborough) were one of six winners of the Governor General’s Innovation Award for the development and commercialization of MerPAS. The award was presented at a ceremony on the 18th of May 2023. MerPAS is of course David’s PhD. thesis in a nutshell (or a PET plastic shell to be precise) and the instrument is having real global impact in expanding global monitoring of neurotoxic mercury, particularly in developing countries where the impacts of mercury are often felt most.
